Mrs. Chowa Tembo Kasengele works as a Program officer in the Department of Public Health, Reproductive Unit as Chief Nursing Officer Adolescent Health at Ministry of Health Headquarters. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and majored in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Adolescent and Child Health (RMNACH) care from the University of Zambia.

She has maintained her nursing and midwifery knowledge and skills and practice by actively involving herself in mentorship and conducting research. . Chowa has been an active member of Lugina Africa Midwives Research Network (LAMRN) since 2013 were she is involved in research projects particularly in reproductive health. Currently, she is the Zambia LAMRN Focal point for the project NIHR Stillbirth prevention and Management in Sub Saharan Africa in collaboration with University of Manchester. She has recently completed a 7 months online course on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (May-November 2017) organised by the Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research (GFMER).

With the NIHR stillbirth project, Chowa has been recently awarded a sponsorship to conduct a Master in Clinical Research at the University of Manchester. She is passionate in research and willing to extend use of evidence-based intervention by other health care professionals to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Chowa is also affiliated to the Midwives Association of Zambia, WHO Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Women Deliver, International Stillbirth Alliance, Research Gate, Averting Maternal Death and Disability Literature Review, Global Health eLearning Center and ReproLinePlus.
