  THE 2nd CONFERENCE OF THE LUGINA AFRICA MIDWIVES RESEARCH NETWORK (LAMRN)

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The Scientific Program Committee of the 2nd Conference of the Lugina Africa Midwives Research Network (LAMRN) welcomes the submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentations.

LAMRN supports reproductive health and midwifery research, information sharing, networking and training activities in East, Central and Southern Africa. LAMRN brings together a network of dedicated reproductive health and midwifery researchers, teachers, practitioners and other health partners. LAMRN’s priority areas include:

  • Supporting senior reproductive health and midwifery partners to develop research   leadership skills
  • Working with nurse/midwives  to identify country-level maternal health research priorities
  • Providing training for nurse/midwives to improve evidence-based practice skills
  • Developing research projects in priority areas such as reduction of obstructed labour, still births, postpartum hemorrhage, puerperal sepsis and obstetric fistula.

THEME OF THE CONFERENCE:

Innovations for improving reproductive health

SUB- THEMES

Theme 1 – Strengthening reproductive health and midwifery practice

Theme 2 – Strengthening health systems in reproductive health

Theme 3 – Innovations in reproductive, maternal, newborn, adolescent and public health

SUBMISSION INFORMATION:

  1. Deadline: The deadline for submission of abstracts is 30th January 2018.
  2. Submission Limit: There are no restrictions on the number of submissions you may submit, but a person may only be designated as presenter on a maximum of two submissions.
  3. Language: Abstracts must be submitted in English.
  4. Word Limit: The entire abstract should not exceed 300 words
  5. Notification: Presenting authors will be notified whether their abstracts are accepted by the end of February- 2018 together with further details and instructions for oral and poster presentation.
  6. Registration: Authors whose abstracts have been accepted must register for the conference and pay the registration fees by 16th April 2018.
  7. Presenter: Only the name of the presenting author will appear in the final conference program. Only one presenter is allowed for each presentation.
  8. Abstracts: Identical abstracts submitted to other international conferences must not be submitted.
  9. Title: The title should be entered in title case. Do not put your title in quotation marks.
  10. Font and Format: All abstracts to be submitted in a Microsoft Word document using Times New Roman font size 12.
  11. Body: Abstracts to be written under the following sub-headings:
    1. Background/Objectives – state concisely why the study or project/program was conducted.
    2. Methods – indicate the location, sample size, participants, design of the study, the type of intervention or test(s) performed and the type of analysis.
    3. Results – the main findings and results should be reported.
    4. Conclusions – state the main conclusions of the study and significance of the results.
  12. Presentation Type and Category: Indicate your preferred presentation type (oral or poster) and subtheme for your submission.
  13. Presentation at Conference: The time allocated for each oral presentation will be 10 minutes. There will be 5 additional minutes for questions and discussion.
  14. Institutions/Affiliations:  Enter names and institutional affiliations for all authors in the order they should appear. Underline the presenting author and provide his/her email address
  15. Completing Your Submission: When all required information is entered, attach and email the abstract to abstracts@lamrn.org.
  16. Notifications: Acknowledgement letters will be emailed to you on submission.
